On November 13,
we exchanged vows under an atmospheric river.

And it was magical.

The Day was finally here

And the the rain was pouring so hard it was almost laughable. We had been checking the weather for a few days, and it was just getting worse. We had these ideas of being sunkissed by gleams of November sun rays through the redwoods, but these were the types of conditions that made it impossible. It’s one thing to dance in the rain - it’s a whole other story to endure land slides and getting drenched or swept away by ocean waves just for some photos.

Nonetheless, we were getting married that day, rain from an atmospheric river or shine. Afterall, it was our fifteenth anniversary, and we had been planning for this day for almost a year now. Apparently rain on your wedding day is good luck, so we figured that this must mean we’re due for an abundance of good luck.

Our makeup artist, Kiyomi, tried her best to weather proof us both and did an amazing job. Unfortunately, Hannah couldn’t risk wearing her wedding dress. Instead, she wore her back up little white dress, and it was beautiful.

Here’s the thing: we’ve been together so long, and we’re both no strangers to make-it-work moments. We were going to have the perfect day no matter. We were lucky to have an elopement planner/photographer that was willing to go over and beyond to make it work as well.

It was perfectly imperfect.

We had our first look and exchanged vows under the Redwoods as planned, and Salisha had the genius idea to make sure our day was fulfilled by taking us to surprise trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

So away we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and had such a fun time! We even got to say hello behind-the-scenes to some baby jellyfish. We finished our day with tacos, churros, and a toast as newlyweds along with Salisha and Aurora (Salisha’s assistant). We were so happy and wouldn’t change a thing.

But it wasn’t over yet!

We were more than content with rain-soaked vows and being aquarium VIPs, but Salisha made sure that our original vision could be brought to life. Therefore, we spent another day celebrating with even more wedding activities!

We had our first dance overlooking Bixby Bridge.

We enjoyed celebratory wedding donuts and popped champagne in Garapatta State Park.

Hannah even got to wear her actual wedding dress (two first looks!).

And then we had some of the most epic pictures ever taken of us.

This extra mile by Salisha elevated our experience beyond our wildest dreams. We are so grateful for her and her assistant.

Words cannot even describe how full our hearts are.
